SUCCESSFUL ‘GETTING A JOB’ ROADSHOW COMES TO ELLESMERE PORT
Are you currently unemployed, looking for a job but your not sure you have the right skills for the interview?
Following the success of previous ‘Getting a Job’ roadshows, the event will arrive in Ellesmere Port this month, helping people who are long-term unemployed, recent graduates or students to gain the right skills to find work.
Offering support in a range of areas from dressing for success, confidence and assertiveness and CV writing to interview techniques, how to search for jobs and presentation skills, visitors will also be able to find out about career opportunities within the retail and care sectors.
Organised by Cheshire West and Chester Council, the event is being held on Thursday October 11 at the EPIC Leisure Centre, McGarva Way, Ellesmere Port between 10am and 3pm.
Executive Member for Prosperity, Councillor Herbert Manley, said: “Quite often many people who find themselves unemployed for whatever reason want to get back into work but find that one part of their skills set is letting them down at interview.
“This roadshow is a perfect way to gather all of the help and support you need from experts who can advise you on an individual basis under one roof.
“I would encourage all residents local to Ellesmere Port who may be looking to get back into work but are having problems for any reasons to visit this free event and see what our experts can do to help.”
A number of workshops will be taking place for visitors to join in with and information available on how to overcome any barriers that people may incur on the road to employment and searching for jobs online.
Expert advice and support will be available for a range of organisations including the Council’s Employment, Skills and Learning Department, Job Centre Plus, Brio Leisure, colleges and partner organisations.
Brio Leisure is offering a free off peak swim to anyone that attends.
Ellesmere Port Development Board Member and local resident Anne Davies, said: “In the current economic climate finding a job can be tough but in our area there is a lot of help and a wealth of experience available to help find a new job and to present yourself to future employers in the best possible way
“Ellesmere Port is bucking the trend nationally and continuing to attract new businesses to the town and we need to make sure that our local residents are ready and equipped to excel at interviews and secure jobs to see the benefits across the area.”
