Ellesmere Port Town Centre Masterplan Consultation

22nd October 2018 – Have Your Say.  Ellesmere Port Town Centre Masterplan launched today.  Cheshire West & Chester Council and the Ellesmere Port Development Board are launching a 6 week public consultation on the Ellesmere Port Town Centre Masterplan.  Responses will be sought from residents, businesses and other key stakeholders in Ellesmere Port on the proposals for the town.

Background – Ellesmere Port has seen a significant amount of investment in housing, education, industrial and leisure development over the last    5-10 years; this is growing the number of residents and employees living and working in the town.  This investment is starting to change the appearance of the town with brownfield sites now developed as housing and a brand new sports village and college facilities.

The town centre including the retail core is showing signs of under investment with some larger empty units caused by the the impact of very challenging retail changes both with online shopping and competing destination.  In May 2018, Allies & Morrison were appointed alongside Colliers and Mott MacDonald to complete a Town Centre Masterplan that would help to reinvigorate the town, identify development sites, consider uses other than retail and draw in private sector investment.

Allies & Morrison have identified four themes to strengthen the town centre, by focussing on (1) the day time economy, (2) transport and environmental quality, (3) culture and evening economy, and (4) housing and community.  The public consultation is based around these four themes, with a permanent display in the Ellesmere Port Central Library, accessible at normal opening times.

The Council would like to secure as many responses as possible from residents, businesses and other key stakeholders during the 6 week consultation period.  The consultation runs form Monday 22nd October 2018 until Friday 30th November 2018.  The following staffed events are being held around the town for local residents and businesses where the consultants will be on hand to answer any queries or concerns that you may have:
