SHARE YOUR FAVOURITE THINGS ABOUT ELLESMERE PORT IN PHOTOGRAPHIC – AND ALL THING ARTY- COMPETITION
22 July 2014 – Do you love Ellesmere Port? Are you a budding photographer with an eye for interesting and quirky shots?
Cheshire West and Chester Council has launched a photographic, and all things arty, competition to celebrate all that’s great in the town and is inviting photographers and artists of all ages and abilities to get involved.
Designed to highlight the many fantastic aspects to Ellesmere Port through the eyes of the people who live and visit here, images, paintings, drawings, 3-D work, sculpture, performance and installations can all be submitted.
Executive Member for Culture and Economy, Councillor Stuart Parker, said: “Ellesmere Port is a town that is changing, with many new developments including the iconic new college, but we are not always the first to highlight our successes.
“We want everyone to be able to see the town through the eyes of the people who call Ellesmere Port home, as well as visitors to the area who may have their favourite view, location or place.
“Hopefully each person’s view of Ellesmere Port will be different so the competition is open to all abilities and ages, residents and visitors alike and the judges will be looking for those photographs and artworks that represent the very best of Ellesmere Port.”
Competitors will be able to submit entries under five categories:
- Sport, recreation and leisure time
- Education, skills and employment
- The new and modern Ellesmere Port
- Business and employment
- The future Ellesmere Port
Winners of each of the categories will receive a £100 cash prize to spend in Whitby Road’s Paperboat Gallery.
Local member Councillor Justin Madders, said: “This competition is a fantastic way for us to see exactly what local people love about the town they live and work in, from a piece of interesting architecture down to smaller things like historical plaques or beautiful flower beds.
“This is a real opportunity for us to see the best bits of the town through the eyes of its residents. It’s all about what you as an individual love about Ellesmere Port and I look forward to seeing the range of entries we hope to receive.”
All entries must be submitted by Tuesday, September 30 via the Council’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/cheshirewest, delivered to the Civic Offices, 4 Civic Way, or by email firstname.lastname@example.org
