Works starts on massive M&S megastore
Work has started on the new Marks & Spencer store within the Cheshire Oaks designer outlet park.
The 150,000 sq ft store will be the largest development undertaken by M&S in more than 10 years, and will carry one of the widest selections of M&S products in the UK.
Chairman Sir Stuart Rose marked the commencement of work by planting an oak tree on the site, together with local dignitaries including Ellesmere Port and Neston Labour MP Andrew Miller.
With a planned opening date of autumn, 2012, the new store is expected to create around 350 new jobs.
An M&S spokesperson said: “Customers across Cheshire and beyond can look forward to a fantastic store in a great location, with a full range of features and services.
“They will be able to enjoy large clothing sections across womenswear, menswear and childrenswear, as well as home furnishings and technology products.”
The store will also include a food hall, cafe and deli.
